Besides a sole fee to Au Pair Belgium, the au pair is entitled to a minimum monthly pocket money of 450€. This pocket money is exempted from social contributions since the Social Security does not qualify the placement of an au pair as work. To benefit from this exemption all the conditions of the placement agreement must be strictly respected.

Obviously, the host family should also provide cost and living to the au pair.

According to the legal provisions the family also needs to subscribe an insurance for medical, hospitalisation and repatriation costs in favour of the au pair.

The host family is free to decide to reimburse the transport costs of the au pair from and to the home country.
