Tasks of an au pair

The au pair will in the first place look after the children. The host family may ask the au pair to take care of the following tasks:

  • Bring and fetch the children to and from school (or the kindergarten),
  • Wash, dress and nurse the children,
  • Do some babysitting,
  • Help to tidy up the toys and clothes of the children,
  • Make the beds of the children,
  • Dress and clean the table,
  • Tidy up the kitchen after mealtime,
  • Do some daily shopping.

Also other small daily housekeeping duties may be asked from the au pair.These duties can never exceed more than 4 hours per day and 20 hours per week.

Furthermore the au pair is entitled to have at least 1 day off per week, 1 complete weekend per month and 1 week per 6 months stay.
